The 1st Combined Arms Army is a large ground combat force that integrates all of the various combat arms, combat support branches, and service support capabilities. The CAA is self-sufficient, containing all of the units needed to fight a large-scale land campaign, as well as all of the units needed to sustain that campaign

1st CAA is responsible for operations in the Middle East. After fighting a war in Egypt in 2020 that was marginally successful, 1st CAA has established a permanent base of operations in Libya and in Western Egypt in the Imperial Security Zone.

The current commander of the 1st CAA is General Nicholas Spankinski. Spankinski is a highly respected general in the Imperial Army who advanced rapidly through the top Army ranks in recent years due to his competence as a commander and his perceived lack of political ambition. Spankinski has over 3 decades of experience in the Middle East and the Balkans commanding tank battalions, regiments, and a guards tank division.

In addition to 1st CAA, Spankinski commands all Imperial naval and air force units in theater under the title Commander, Middle East Forces Command.
